Is 4 enough?

So it's been awhile since I've blogged but I am going to try for a fresh start and keep up with it this time!

Things have been busy, busy, busy around here! Adam is now 7 1/2 months old, Ashleigh is just a few months away from turning 12 and Travis and I are expecting twins at the end of the year! We are a growing family - but should the growing stop?

As most of you know, Travis and I tried for 10 years (and over a dozen fertility doctors) to have more kids and then we met Dr. Hilton Kort and he helped up make our dream of having more kids come true - and then some!

A year and a half ago we had pretty much accepted the fact that we were only going to have one child and then Dr. Kort helped us change everything. After 3 rounds of In-Vitro we have a son and twins on the way. When I went for my check up last week our doctor wants to know if it's time to tie my tubes? Is it? It seems like such a final thing and after so many years of trying to get pregnant how will it be to not try? What if I change my mind later?

Of course, 4 kids is more than enough for us. As it is we are all going to be crowding into our 3 bedroom house. We have lots of alterations to make before the twins arrive, such as more car seats, more cribs, a bigger kitchen table, etc. We really can't afford a fifth child so I know the responsible thing to do is to go ahead and have it taken care of when the twins are born (via c-section) but the thought of that makes me feel empty for some reason?

How do you know when enough is enough?

That is such a hard question because it's different for everyone! Ultimately I think it's a decision between you, Travis, and the Lord. Personally I don't think I would ever be comfortable having my tubes tied because I feel like the opportunity to have children is a sacred trust from God, but only you know what's best for your family. Definitely something to think about!
